Republic Day in Italy (Festa della Repubblica) is celebrated on June 2nd and is a national holiday that commemorates the establishment of the Italian Republic in 1946. On this day, Italians voted in a referendum that resulted in the abolition of the monarchy and the proclamation of a republic.
